Latest Netflix Love: The Fosters

Hey everyone! Today I would like to talk about my latest Netflix love, The Fosters. I wasn't sure how much I would actually like this show, but the more I watched, the more I could. not. stop. Basically, the show revolves around Callie, an orphan who lands in Juvie in her struggle to find adoptive parents.

What can I say about this show?! It's just, so good. At first I thought I wouldn't like it too much because all the characters are essentially teenagers (like, 15 y/o), and usually I get annoyed watching TV shows with younger main characters, but this one makes it work! The challenges they face are really mature (drug use, mental illness, eating disorders) but with the guidance of their moms, the kids are equipped to take them on. It's all really heart-warming and you end up rooting for each and every character.

And note how I said, "their moms". Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is one of the first TV shows to feature same-sex parents! It's so great. The moms are like, the coolest parents ever, and watching them deal with all the issues in their lives is so satisfying to me for some reason. Their dynamic is awesome.

I also wanna mention that I think the casting is so on-point. Maia Mitchell, the actress who plays Callie, is so fab. I watched interviews with her and she's this super rad Australian actress and I'm obsessed with her hair and her accent. I also love the casting for the moms, and the casting for Jude, Callie's little brother. And not to mention David Lambert (who plays Brandon) is pretty easy on the eyes.

With only one season on Netflix, you'll have to catch up on season 2 elsewhere (*cough* it's really easy to find online *cough*), but it's definitely worth it. Don't judge it based on the absolutely unoriginal name ("The Fosters", how boring), or on the cheesy ABC Family-esque adverts, just trust that the characters will capture your heart and your interest, and you'll be hook as quick as I was!

Plaid and Neon from Persunmall

Hey everyone! As I mentioned at the beginning of the month, Persunmall offered to send me some of their products to try out... Well, here they are! I ended up choosing the plaid shirt and the neon rope necklace, and I have to say, I'm really pleased with both items.

This plaid shirt is the perfect pattern, in my opinion. For some reason, whenever I look for a plaid shirt at Forever 21 or something, they always have the oddest color combinations. I'm loving the classic lumberjack red, and I think the two huge pockets give it a nice, laidback feel. My only complaint is that the sleeves are a bit tight for a size large, which sucks because I wanted to wear t-shirts underneath it but I don't want to be uncomfortable. Also, the company label behind the neck is the itchiest thing in the world. (PS... Can you tell I'm not really a fashion blogger? "The label is itchy" hahaha)

The neon rope necklace is awesome. It's exactly what I expected from the picture on the website. I'm always so attracted to neon - whether it be jewelry or nail polish. I paired the necklace with the plaid shirt the first time I wore it and I think they look so cool together. I totally foresee myself wearing it a variety of different outfits. And for $3.99, you can't really go wrong!

Overall I'm super happy with my Persunmall goodies. If you'd like to check the site out for yourself, feel free to use my referral link: http://www.persunmall.com/&refer_id=42529 :)

Room Decor Plans

Hey everyone! Since I am now a Pinterest fiend, it's no surprise that I have big decor plans for my new bedroom. These are some mock-ups I put together in Photoshop.

Instead of a backboard for my bed, I want to get two sets of Ikea Expedit book shelves. I'm in dire need of book storage, so this will be a nice touch. I also want some rainbow fluorescents to add under the shelves, giving it a cool vibe.

I have a fairly large window section in the corner of my room and I'd like to make some sort of origami installation to fill up some of that space.

This is where my desk will go. I opted for a clear desk and a wooden chair. Love the idea of mixing modern and rustic textures. Next to it I'm going to work on a "gallery wall" which is basically an eclectic mix of picture frames and paintings.

I have a small strip of wall next to my closet, so a little vanity could fit perfectly there. Not sure what I'd want to have displayed above it (maybe nothing), but for now I'm envisioning some quotes and magazine cutouts.

On the back of my door I'm going to have a small collection of my Instagram printouts which I've already ordered from Origrami. I'm also on the look out for some neon pink duct tape that I'll use sporadically throughout my room to frame things.

I'm very excited to get this project started!

New Mac lipstick: Instigator

Hey everyone! With the Mac giftcard I received on Christmas, I decided to pick up a new Mac lipstick in the shade "Instigator" from the Punk Couture collection. I saw the lipstick on Temptalia and knew I wanted it right away.

It's one of Mac's "retro-matte" finishes, meaning it applies without shine or gloss. I found this to be true. Because of the finish it was a little difficult to apply, but with a good lip liner (i.e. Mac Nightmoth), it isn't too bad. The wear on it is really good - lasts multiple hours without budging. The only thing you need to make sure of is that your lips are properly hydrated, otherwise the lipstick will stick to dry patches.

The color is a very deep plum color (definitely black in certain lights). I admit it can be intimidating in the bullet, but paired with a smokey eye this lipstick is killer. Don't let it scare you! What's great about the color is that it works on all skin tones.

Overall score: A-

I Love Pinterest

I didn't always "get" Pinterest. I thought the whole concept was kinda lame, but to be honest I never truly gave it a chance. Recently, however, I discovered the amazingness that is this website. Here is a collection of my favorite pins. You can follow my boards if you want.

Fashion Wishlist from Persunmall

Hey everyone! The other day I was approached by the wonderful Alice from Persunmall.com who offered to have me try out some of their items and review them for you. Step 1 is to post a wishlist featuring my favorite things!

Persun is an online retailer that sells clothing and accessories for very affordable prices. I was particularly impressed by their tops and jewelry selection, so that's what I've focused on in this list.

The first item is this pink flower knit sweater. It's basically a Wildfox knock-off, and since I'm not about to spend $100 on a distressed sweater, this is perfect! I'm sure the quality isn't as good, but I plan on wearing it very casually and I like the loose fit.

A classic plaid shirt has been soo hard to come by for me. All I want is a plain red one, and I can't seem to find one in-store! Luckily, Persunmall has this in stock. It's not flannel, but it has a great pattern and I love the huge pockets.

Next is a gray knit sweater. Right along the spine theres a pulled panel, making it seem like the knitting fell apart. I think it's so cool and perfect to wear over leggings on a cold day. Chuck on some tall black boots and you're good to go.

The last clothing item on my wishlist is a plain white t-shirt. I don't have a loose, oversize t-shirt so this would be a really good staple to have.

Finally, this gold and neon green necklace. I'd see myself wearing this constantly if I were to own it. I totally see myself rocking this under the collar of a chambray shirt. It's really fun for summer, but I'd also wear it throughout the winter because god knows I need some neon to spice up my drab monochrome outfits!
