Hey everyone! This post is a little awkward but I thought it might be relevant. Lately I've been shaving my legs 24/7 given that it's summer time, and I've come to find that razors are really good at sucking any kind of moisture out of my legs. Yum. Also, because my legs have been super dry, they've been itchy which is both gross and annoying so I needed a solution.
I purchased three separate anti-itch/itch-relieving moisturizers before I found one that actually did the trick. So here they are! I hope this post helps at least someone out there lol :)
The first lotion I tried is this Aveeno one that claims to use natural ingredients to relieve itch. While this lotion did moisturize, the itch somehow remained. So basically, it's a decent moisturizer but if you suffer from itchiness (in addition to dryness), I would opt for something a little stronger. What I did like about this is the consistency, though. It's thick yet it gets absorbed really quickly.
The second lotion I tried is this Eucerin one and I have to say, this is my least favorite. Not only does it not relieve itchiness (which it's supposed to. You can't see it here but it claims to do that on the bottle.), but the consistency is so thin and liquidy, the stuff just gets everywhere. I don't know, for me it was just the least pleasant.
This Gold Bond lotion is the winner of all three for me. The consistency, much like the Aveeno moisturizer, is really thick, and unlike the other two, this one actually relieves itch. The difference between this one and the others is that it contains Aloe Vera which has a really cooling property to it so you can literally feel the itch going away. This would probably also be amazing for uncomfortable sunburns and yeah, I just think the Aloe is a smart ingredient to add to this lotion.
So if anyone's on the market for an anti-itch cream... I'm glad I could be of help! :)
EDIT: I totally forgot, but here's an embarrassing story for you... So I take my blog photos on my balcony, in a condo three floors up, and I was testing out these lotions and taking photos, so when I was done I went to grab my camera, I accidentally dropped it off the balcony.... Yeah... It's alive and kicking, though. I'm pretty sure at least two neighbours were out, but hey :P

Monday Questionnaire (via Amarixe)
Here's a picture of my munchkin just because I felt like this post was lacking a photo. Isn't he cute?
1.) Mood:
Lazy and feeling guilty about it. I feel like I have tons to do but I'm not sure what...
2.) If you had to guess, how many beauty products would you say you use a day?
Ohhh wow, that really depends on the day. If I'm leaving the house, at least foundation, powder, bronzer or blush depending on my mood, setting spray, mascara and lip balm.
3.) Are you a good swimmer?
Not at all! Mostly because I can't be bothered with full strokes and precision. I can stay afloat and that's good enough for me!
4.) Current nail polish:
5.) What is your favorite dinner dish?
Lately, salmon! I love baked salmon with a little teriyaki sauce (not too much otherwise it easily makes this healthy dish unhealthy).
6.) Current outfit:
A pair of pale pink Abercrombie shorts and an old Jonas Brothers concert t-shirt. I'm not doing anything special today, lol.
7.) Do you like to dance?
Yes and no! I hate dancing if I'm being forced to, but I like to if I'm in the mood. And I'm usually in the mood if a song I like is playing.
8.) Can you drive a manual transmission/stick shift car?
Nope, I can't even drive an automatic. I'm about five classes into driver's ed so hopefully in about a year I'll have my license!
9.) What is the last beauty product you purchased?
I honestly haven't purchased one in a really long time. Probably my two Julep Maven nail polishes.
10.) Weekly goals:
Nothing crazy. I just wanna blog and relax a bit, to be honest. Maybe dinner with a few friends one day. It's a really chill week. I'm taking advantage of these because school is starting soon :( Wah.
Nail Polish of the Day: August 13th
Hi everyone! I have another "Nail Polish of the Day" for you guys, and I'm aware it's only been like two days since my last one, but I really wanted to try this one out as soon as I got it! It's another Julep Maven polish, but I didn't get this one from my last one-cent order. My aunt had it in her collection and didn't want it anymore so she passed it on! I've been wanting a good white polish for a while now so I was really happy about this.
So this is Julep Maven's "Kate". I believe it's supposed to have a pearlescent finish, but it's barely detectable. If anything though, I feel like the intended "pearlescent" finish helps to make it look less like liquid paper and more like nail polish.
See, I have this thing about white nail polish... It can look really trashy if it's not worn correctly, in my opinion. First of all, I think it looks better on pale skin, because the contrast is way too stark next to a darker complexion. And second of all, on too-long or too-short nails, it can look a little cheap or tacky. But, all these conditions aside, if it's manicured properly, I think it can also look really elegant.
Personally, I wanted a white polish because they are an essential component of nail art. They are perfect bases for chunky glitters and neons. I wish I had this during the Olympics because I would've done the Olympic rings or some red maple leaves on top! So yep, this is a great addition to my collection and I'm glad I got my hands on it. :)

Yesterday's FOTD
Hey everyone! I wanted to do a quick post about yesterday's FOTD as a follow-up to my post about flat iron curls (HERE).
As you can see, the curls pretty much melted away with the heat, humidity and rain, and yet, I was left with some pretty decent waves. I think that's alright considering this is my day-after hair and it's still wearable (I'd say). However, the curls loosened almost instantantly after I styled them. If anyone has tips on how to get curly hair to stay in place longer, please do share!
I'm not wearing any makeup in this FOTD because it was just a day of running errands and then a movie night with a few friends. We watched "Friends With Kids"... I don't plan on fully reviewing this one because it's not really worth my time, to be honest. I thought it was going to be really good because the entire "Bridesmaids" cast in it, but nah. I didn't enjoy it.
In other news: Miley Cyrus is now a less attractive Megan Rapinoe.
I'd be willing to bet she'll have extensions in about a week's time.

Nail Polish of the Day: August 11th
Hello everyone! Today's nail polish of the day is OPI's "The One That Got Away". It's part of their Katy Perry collection (hence the name)! I'm not entirely sure if this collection is still onsale because I think it came out at the beginning of 2012. I got the collection as a birthday gift in February, so I'm not sure. It came out in the same collection as OPI's Shattered polish, so if you can imagine when that phase started, it was around then!
It's a really beautiful, sparkly berry color. My favorite part about this polish is that the color is super versatile. I think it can be easily worn year-round because it's deep enough for winter & fall, but it picks up the sunlight really well, making it wearable in the summer and spring too.
Confession time: I tend to stray away from OPI and Essie polishes (unless I receive them as gifts, then they're always welcome ;)) just because of the price, but I must admit these are quality products. They glide on so smoothly and the finish is virtually flawless. My only gripe is that they do take a little bit longer to dry up! Other than that, I love this nail polish. The whole line is great too, and I'm sure you'll be seeing the rest in a NOTD soon enough :)

Flat Iron Curls
Just a quick post before I go out tonight! Basically, I've been watching YouTube videos all day (mostly hair tutorials), and I felt like in order to consider that time well-spent, I should probably try applying what I learned. So here is my curly hair for this evening.
This is before I even got dressed or put makeup on, because I wanted to take the photo before the curls fell (which they did). Basically, I took bits of hair in approximately 1-inch sections, and curled them with a curved straightening iron. I made sure the hair closest to the root was straightened, and then turned the iron away from face, pulled down, and was left with really big, fluffy curls. I know my hair won't stay like this the whole night but I figure the worst that can happen is they fall out and I'm left with some waves.
(I apologize for the crappy lighting on these photos, by the way. The weather sucks right now.)
In case you were interested, the straightening iron I use is a Rusk CTC. It straightens and curls really, really well. It gets incredibly hot. You can turn it up to 450 degrees which is what I usually use. I got this as a Christmas gift but I do believe it's on the pricier side. You get what you pay for, though, because the quality is awesome and I'm sure I'll be using this for a really long time!
